My sister, a girl who got pregnant at the age of 14, says that I am the world's worst father and a crappy lazy person. This is coming from that mother that abandoned her child for over 4 months to be with some guy she was convinced she was in love with. As well as these things, she has the tendancy to disappear for weeks at a time leaving her daughter in my mother's care, only to come back looking like she had had to much sex to walk, and to many drugs to function.

She has not been a very good role model for her daughter. The only time I've seen her interact with her 5 year old daughter more than five minutes is when she is A) beating and cursing her out, or B) When she is cursing her out for doing something wrong. To clarify something, my sister was stripped of her custody for her daughter in favor of my mother. So when she comes back to stay after living with a few druggies or drunks (Which she has her daughter call daddy to win them over), she sneaks out in the wee hours of the morning to go hook up with some guy, get drunk, or pop prescription drugs until she passes out. All while leaving her daughter at home with a grandmother who has to work in the morning. She has almost been left unsupervised for a day. This was only avoided because my mother knows enough not to trust her daughter with her daughter. Thing is, she will swear on the Bible up and down that she has never done any of these things even with half her family that wants to be around her telling her she has. Yet, I am a horrible father who has never been away from his kids for more than three days, and has only raised his voice to them to discipline them. I am the crappy parent.

I am also lazy and do not contribute anything to my household. I just sit on the couch playing video games while my wife works, neglecting my children in favor of cartoonish pleasures. Yet my sister, is none of these things she describes me to be.

Apparently my sister went through more jobs than porn stars go through condoms in a year. Her longest job streak being a month at minumum wage. Yes, she started going to beauty school (Yeah, serious go getters really attend beauty school to earn a living). However, when things started getting complicated (She wasn't allowed a $200 advance on her grant), she quit school and had my mother worrying whether or not they were going to stick her with the bill.

She claims she wants her child back from my mother, yet she moves out with scumbags and remains jobless. On top of that, she refuses to spend time with her child half the time. This is because she can't pop pills or get drunk with her around (Or have sex).

She is currently living with my mother. Her only responsibility is to clean the house and watch her daughter. She fails miserably at that. My mother buys her cigarettes, allows her use of her car pretty much anytime, and has her boyfriend stay in the house nearly all day running up bills (Boyfriend which jumped to her defense on a moments notice when I told my sister what she was doing was wrong (Which also claims to have a job laying flooring and supports countless people (Yet I find him at my mothers house from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. everyday almost which makes me wonder who called to having flooring installed at later hours of the night or very early mornings). Yet I am a piece of crap that took advantage of his military benefits and doesn't even have to really work for his wage, but is currently seeking employment anyways. I am a crappy person that does pay bills, but am seeking a higher education. I am a crappy person for still bringing in the average wage of my area and then some, and then looks for a job so his wife doesn't have to work anymore and can go to college.

You may think this is some well spun yarn to show how stupid people can be. However, I will certify, affirm on the bible, and have a notary public noterize me signing a piece of paper that affirms this a 100% true story. My sister is way to stupid to recognize her own faults, blames others for her condition (Which she denies having because she is an upstanding, decent citizen). I have helped her countless times in the past with money, advice, or what have you. Yet I never did any of these things I just mentioned for her. She still has the balls to call me a bad father and a lazy person with all of her faults laid out on the table and several hundred people telling her the truth about me.

This story is for those who have lived through a situation similar to this. Do you feel like I do? I can not understand how somebody can think these things about an actually decent person when they display every characteristic of the fabled person they are describing. I am truly thinking that my sister needs to seek a mental health professional. I love my nice to death. If my mother dies and my sister gets her; my nice will turn into either a serial killer, off herself, or become a drug addicted. I am telling you this story so that if you currently live with or near anybody like this, you can stand up and tell them that they are a bane to everybody and they need to seek help.

Thanks, Gregg, but there's really no self-selection here, and nothing that I find funny at all (especially since you mention your sister beating her daughter). Stories like that of your sister are also pretty common if you look hard enough. It's very unfortunate, but not the sort of thing we look for.

What Bruce said. You sound like a great person, and your sister sounds like she's in seriously need of counseling. If you need to find a place to vent, I suggest looking up support groups in your area. The community college you get your classes from might be ablt to help.
