Here's the basic story below. More research may need to be done into the gentleman's life, and how much of this he brought upon himself vs it being random acts. I believe however that if you've been shot 3 previous times (twice in the neck and once in the head) it should be sufficient warning that you should change something about where you live, who you hang with, and who you argue with. He's been trying for 3 years to get posted, he finally succeeded.

Larry Kemp had been narrowly escaping death for years.

The 25-year-old Buffalo man has been shot three times over the past three years — but it was the fourth shooting on Sunday afternoon that claimed his life.

Kemp had been virtually a living miracle, surviving a gunshot wound to his head and two separate shots to his neck during previous incidents.

At about 1 p.m. Sunday, Kemp was shot in front of a house on Warring Avenue near Antwerp Street after an argument with another man. The man pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking Kemp multiple times.

Kemp was pronounced dead in Erie County Medical Center. The gunman ran from the scene and was being sought by police.

“We believe there was some type of dispute or argument between the two men,” said Buffalo Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

Records show Kemp, who lived on Burgard Place, had a felony conviction for criminal possession of a weapon.

DeGeorge said homicide investigators were still trying to determine a motive for Sunday’s shooting. Newspaper reports indicate that at least one of Kemp’s prior woundings may have been a retaliation for a murder.

“I’m not aware that it’s a retaliation for murder, and it hasn’t been determined at this point,” DeGeorge said of Sunday’s shooting.

On April 27, 2005, Kemp was driving on Boehm Place when a man fired several shots at him, one of which struck the top of his head. He was treated at ECMC and released.

Less than two weeks earlier, on April 17, Kemp was shot in front of his Burgard Place home. He suffered a single gunshot wound to his neck. At the time, Homicide Unit detectives said the shooting might be in retaliation for the murder of Daryl M. Smith, 26, who was gunned down April 16 on Genesee Street.

On Feb. 11, 2004, Kemp was shot in the neck in a drive-by incident on Burgard.

This guy just had lousy luck (or amazing luck depending on how you look at it) in that he was shot yet survived three times. The fact that he was the victim in multiple shootings doesn't qualify him for a Darwin though since it was somebody else who pulled the trigger. Thanks anyway, David.

Sometimes you can't help where you live, or who you encounter, or to what degree your luck holds out. I agree with Bruce that this is a case of incredibly bad luck. There's nothing in the article that indicates he did anything to deserve this, but in any case death did not come to him of his own hands!
