Okay, so, 17-year-old kid (Might have a problem with Maturity with that age, however, so possible disqualification.), not exactly the brightest light bulb in the chandelier, if you couldn't tell from the title. He decides "Hey, I'll grow this stuff and smoke it!" Unfortunately, said "stuff" was marijuana; not exactly a prescription psychiatric drug.

His mistakes was fundamental: Don't do drugs, don't grow them, and trespassing onto other's property to grow weed. But his (Well, fourth, anyway) biggest mistake was his choice of property to grow his "stuff" on. It happened to be the local deputy chief's property. I don't think the officer was very pleased with his young friend's choice of location...

The kid is currently in the county's Juvenile Assessment Center.

Checklist, with possible problems.

Veracity: Reported by AP, so, check. Self-Selection: Eh... Might've been dumb luck, so iffy. Maturity: Biggest possible problem. He's seventeen, and I think the cutoff is eighteen. Reproduction: Unless you count prison time, nope. No Darwin there, but possible HM or, more likely, PA, or, most likely, a reject. Excellence: Well, I found it funny, but it might be interpretted differently, as this 17-year-old undoubtedly has some problems. Repeat?: Well, this is a first for me, anyway.

Teen Accused of Growing Pot on Cop's Land From Associated Press May 09, 2007 3:09 PM EDT

OCALA, Fla. - A 17-year-old boy was growing marijuana on vacant property owned by Ocala's deputy police chief, authorities said. Deputy Chief Greg Graham said he was told about the plants by neighbors on Saturday. He had bought the lot two months ago as an investment, the Ocala Star-Banner reported. Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office confiscated nine potted marijuana plants on the lot.

Graham said he has known the teen, who was not identified because of his age, for several years.

"I have no idea why he picked my property," Graham said.

A neighbor witnessed the teen in the wooded lot on Friday, according to a sheriff's report. The lot was about 100 yards from the teen's home. The neighbor said the teen's presence on the lot seemed suspicious.

While the investigators were on the property, they spotted the teen walking toward it, according to the report. The teen admitted to investigators that the plants were his and that he smokes marijuana.

He also had pictures of the marijuana plants on his camera cell phone, according to the report.

The teen was charged with cultivation of marijuana and taken to the county's Juvenile Assessment Center.

Actually, marijuana IS a prescription medication, used to control pain. That aside, there's nothing much here other than someone growing dope on someone else's plot (him being a policeman aside). Growing the dope was dumb, but growing it someone else's land was actually pretty smart.
