Brazilian News Agency AGESTADO, also related to the newspapers "O Estado de São Paulo" and "Jornal da Tarde" (http://www.estadao.com.br/ultimas/cidades/noticias/2007/fev/11/78.htm) report that four young guys decided to sleep on a not frequently used railroad and thus were run over by a train in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, close to the city of Brotas. The driver told the police that he saw the young guys and gave horn and light signals, but he couldn´t stop the train. To sleep on a railroad was an excellent idea to wipe out their genes.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
Of ALL the places to sleep, WHY would someone choose a railroad track? Murphy's law was as much a part of this as Darwin's theory of self-selection. The ONE time people choose to sleep on a little-used branch line is the ONE time a train will be using it! I also like the fact that horns and whistles (not to mention the vibration which SHOULD have been felt at a distance) had no effect. I'm voting to keep this one, and Darwin ought to see it as well! Thanks, Klaus!

Definitely Toss: Too Common
Thanks, Klaus, but the old "sleeping-on-railwat-tracks" is very common and this one has no new edge to it. I'm guessing there was copious amounts of alcohol/drugs involved here. Thanks for sending it in though.

Neutral: Darwin Award
I also guess that intoxicants were involved in this one. Even if the line is not frequently used, what earthly reason would the four of them decide to sleep there. Thanks for the story, Klaus

Streets or railroads, we simply get too many stories of this sort to make this worthy of an award. Sorry Klaus, we do appreciate your submission, however.

Sorry - but this happens all too frequently - I would imagine that alcohol was involved. Also - the link is in Spanish, so I couldn't read it anyway. Thanks
