Power!
2001 Personal Account

(Lake Charles, Louisiana) A friend in the National Guard told me his unit included a mechanic with the unfortunate name of Power. Whenever the operators start up a tank, they yell "Power!" to signal to everyone that it's moving. One day Power was working in the cabin of a tank, when someone yelled "Power!" as a signal that they were about to move the turret and close the hatch. Power put his head up through the hatch port to see who needed him, just as the hatch was coming down. Fortunately he was wearing his helmet, which was severely cracked by the closing hatch. He suffered minor trauma to the head and several bloody lacerations, but he remained good-natured about the whole thing -- and never again stuck his head up when he heard his name called out.

Darwin Awards III: Survival of the Fittest

Hardback. 304 pages. Autographed.
$15
The human race's most popular humor series returns with a brand-new collection of macabre mishaps and misadventures. Honoring those who improve our gene pool by inadvertently removing themselves from it, the Darwin Awards III shows once more how uncommon common sense still is.

Salute the sheriff who inadvertently shot himself--twice! Witness the insurance defrauder who amputated his leg with a chainsaw! Heed the story of the farmer who avoided bee stings by sealing his head in a plastic bag! Cringe at the man crushed by a branch he'd just severed... directly over his head!

123 new stories, 18 full-page illustrations, plus discussions of transgenic animals, the origin of life, and more.

Autographed by Author!
